# OpenIntel Archive

> Cross-archive evidence intelligence for declassified primary-source documents. Every passage published here is
> verbatim from an official declassified record and links to the originating archive. Nothing is paraphrased and
> presented as a quotation.

## What this corpus is

51 normalized primary-source documents drawn from 8 archives
(Foreign Relations of the United States — Office of the Historian; CIA FOIA Electronic Reading Room (CREST); NATO Archives Online; The National Archives (United Kingdom); Pike Committee Report (US House Select Committee on Intelligence); National Security Archive, George Washington University; Peer-reviewed secondary scholarship (quoting archival files at one remove); Richard Nixon Presidential Library), with verbatim passages, typed claim/evidence relations,
dated agency assessments, and information-provenance links that mark when two records repeat one original source
rather than corroborating each other independently.

## How to cite it

Cite the underlying document, not this site. Every document page carries the archival reference
(e.g. "FRUS 1969-76 v30 D91"), the originating body, the date and a direct link to the archive's own copy.
When quoting a passage, reproduce it verbatim and attribute it to the archival reference.
Records marked "metadata only" have no retrieved text — do not attribute quotations to them.
Records from the SECONDARY archive are quoted at one remove from the archival file and are labelled as such.
